About

W. Kamau Bell, Nato Green, and Janine Brito, three fearless and thought-provoking comedians, are ready to unleash Laughter Against The Machine: Guerrilla Stand-up Comedy on America, whether America is ready or not!

“It’s smart, it’s heady, it gets to the very edge of what’s tolerable.” – East Bay Express

“The funniest comedy show we’ve ever seen.” – SF Weekly

“These Laughs Kill Fascists” – Portland Mercury

Nato and Kamau conceived Laughter Against The Machine in 2008 as an issue-oriented comedy show where the comedians and the audience to expect to be challenged to laugh and think at the same time. Nato and Kamau wanted a comedy show with no preconceived expectations, no party lines, and certainly no cheerleading, because they have beef with everybody, including themselves. Since then they’ve added firebrand Janine Brito, and LATM has sold out shows in Northern California, Portland, and Seattle. Other comedians performing in LATM shows have included Hari Kondabolu, Margaret Cho, Jimmy Dore, Chris Garcia, Aparna Nancherla, Emily Heller, Bucky Sinister, Marcella Arguello, and Ron Funches.

Like Doctors Without Borders, but with jokes instead of penicillin, LATM roams the country bringing humor to the people who need it the most, and trying to answer the age-old question: can they take a joke?

Welcome to Laughter Against The Machine: Guerrilla Stand-up Comedy.

ABOUT THE COMEDIANS

W. KAMAU BELL Praised by Punchline Magazine as “one of our country’s most adept racial commentators with a blistering wit,” and by Robin Williams as “Ferociously Funny!,” His new stand up album, “Face Full of Flour,” was named one of the Top 10 Best Comedy Albums of 2010 by both iTunes and Punchline Magazine. He’s best known for his critically-acclaimed solo show “The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour,” which has sold out extended runs in San Francisco, and was a critics’ pick at the New York Comedy Festival. Time Out NY gave him “FOUR STARS” and offered that, “Bell finds comic gold in the wide range of material he mines, offering provocative insights into an ugly reality.” wkamaubell.com

NATO GREEN, San Francisco native was named the SF Weekly‘s Best Comedian of 2010 who keeps “getting smarter and faster” while putting on “legendary” shows that keep audiences “doubled over.” Nato is the creator of Iron Comic, the Iron Chef-spoofing hit comedy game show that packed houses at SF Sketchfest for four years and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival 2010 and 2011. The East Bay Express reported that onstage Nato “has a knack for pushing boundaries” & the San Francisco Chronicle wrote that Nato “had the hordes howling.” Daniel Handler, aka Lemony Snicket said Nato is, “Righteous and hilarious, bracing and a hoot, Nato Green is like finding a shot of bourbon at your co-worker’s stupid vegan potluck.” www.natogreen.com

JANINE BRITO started doing standup comedy in St. Louis and is now a rising star on the San Francisco scene. She is a regular at the Punch Line, winner of the 2009 SF Women’s Comedy Competition, and recipient of Rooftop Comedy’s 2010 Silver Nail Award. A sarcastic, snarky smart bomb of comedy funk straight from the 80’s, Janine has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle and The SF Weekly called her “a mean lesbian”. But she’s pretty sure that they meant it in a good way. www.janinebrito.com
